The Simplex - known as Mary Ann

Mary Ann is a small petrol Simplex Tractor locomotive built for use in the trenches of the First World War. It arrived on the Ffestiniog Railway for shunting duties and would ultimately become the first locomotive to be used on the revived railway in 1954.

The model, a Wrightlines white metal kit depicts the loco as seen following its overall in the mid 2000’s, and was repainted by Chris Clark prior to conversion to DCC for use on our layout.

Kerr Stuart 4415

This 6wDM locomotive is a pioneer of British internal combustion locomotive history. One of the very first British diesel locomotives, it was built by Kerr Stuart in Stoke-on-Trent in 1928 and spent some time on both the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railway's in this period as a demonstrator for the manufacturers before coming back in 1997.

Our model, built by Peter Hoyle from a modified Worsley Works scratch aid kit  depicts the loco in its part restored form as it appeared in 2023
