Welsh Highland Heritage Railway

Russel's special train consisting of two or three WHHR cariages that runs Porthmadog to Rhiw Goch and return every now and then. See if you can spot it at shows. 

Hunslet Russell is often found on the sister railway the Welsh Highland Heritage Rly

but very occasionally ventures onto Ffestiniog metals and even to Rhiw Goch if you go back far enough. Our model is a Chivers Finelines Kit bought off a friend in 90s/00s livery currently awating it's turn to be converted to DCC Sound.


WHRL Coach No.9 is a replica NWNGR carriage. Originally numbered 9, the original carriage became Carriage 25 under the combined FR/WHR numbering system. A 3D printed body bought off a well known selling site to feature in a special Russell train. 


WHRL Coach No.8 is a preserved NWNGR carriage. Originally numbered 8, it became Carriage 29 in the combined FR/WHR numbering system. After preservation on the WHHR it reverted to its original number. Mr. Gladstone, the then Prime Minister, travelled in No.8 on the way to a holiday at Nant Gwynant. Thereafter, the coach was nicknamed the 'Gladstone Car'.
